Dr. Qudratullah Abdulrazaq, Executive Director and Founder


Qudratullah Abdulrazaq has more than 20 years experience leading public health management and community-based health health projects. He also gained extensive experience in health system strengthening and capacity building as program manager with Rural Expansion of Afghanistan Community-based Healthcare Project USAID/MSH.

Prior to his work with AfD, he worked with the Global Fund to fight Aids and Tuberculosis in Geneva and with Kaveline Group Spain as Country Director. Abdulrazaq has a long distinguished career in public health in countries including, Afghanistan, South Africa, Pakistan and India. Throughout his career, he held numerous senior posts at management level with WHO, USAID, Management Sciences for Health, MSF and several other international organizations.

He is familiar with international donor’s rules and regulations and compliance procedures, ability to build effective working relationship with host government officials and develop a network of contacts with counter parts at organizational level.

Abdulrazaq has received a number of awards from Government and Development institutions in recognition of his achievements and contributions in health and community development programs. He also served on board of directors of a number of organizations which includes Asia Cooperation for Development Services in Afghanistan and Foundation for Peace and Unity.
Mr. Abdul Razaq is a medical doctor with an advanced degree in management (MBA).

Zuhra Dadgar Shafiq, Strategy, Performance and Evaluation Director

ZuhraZuhra has built her career over the past 15 years in social development, gender, public health and management, working with international organizations, UN and donor agencies. She has worked in the social development sector in Pakistan and Afghanistan where she conducted surveys, impact studies and program evaluations. She also worked with the UNDP, USAID, MSH, Save the Children Sweden, Afghanaid, GFMER (in Geneva) as well as the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan. She specializes in strategy performance, macro-level planning and policy development.

Zuhra serves as Strategy Performance and Evaluation Director at AfD. Her mandate is to address the strategic expansion of the organization, primarily focusing on initiatives addressing community development, health, education and women empowerment. She also served as a member of  AfD’s board of trustees for 3 years.

Fanny Naville, Project Manager (Consultant)

fannyFanny holds a Master’s degree in Social Science and has recently completed the executive course on Global Health Diplomacy of the Graduate Institute of International Studies of Geneva. She has worked as Information Management Officer in Switzerland, Denmark, Argentina, Norway and serviced a variety of international clients including UN agencies (WHO, UNEP), research centers (Small Arms Survey, NERSC) and governments.
At WHO Fanny was in charge of building up a regional information management capacity to improve overall disease surveillance & response at regional and national levels. For the Small Arms Survey she implemented information management capacity on all aspects of small arms and armed violence.
Fanny joined AfD in 2014 as Project Officer.

Dr. Aseel Mugahed, Public Health Specialist

Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 12.44.05 PMDr. Aseel is a medical doctor with an M.B.B.S degree from the Faculty of Medicine and General Surgery and four years experience in the field of social services. In her role as a medical officer working on health projects, she evaluates key indicators from AfD’s health facility reports to verify their completeness and accuracy. She reports to the strategy performance and evaluation director to highlight gaps and deficiencies and suggest improvements. Dr. Aseel is fluent in Arabic, English and French.

Anna Marie McNamara, Human Resources and Finance Officer


Anne Marie acquired her HR experience in Silicon Valley, CA, in a number of high tech and Biotech companies, in a back office capacity. She has worked on multi-state benefit plans, retirement plans, and software implementations as project manager and super user.

Anne Marie joined AfD in March 2016 as the HR & Finance Officer in order to update policies, review compliance and put procedures into place that will allow organized and methodical project development and growth.

Anne Marie holds a BA from Waterford Institute of Technology.

Dominique Chatelet, Pharma Supply and Management Advisor

She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies from the IUED (Institut Universitaire d’Étude du Développement, the former Graduate Institute in Geneva). She was involved in several training programs on palliative care and morphine use in Africa (Uganda, Mali, Burkina-Faso, Ivory Coast) with Hospice Africa and AMCC (Alliance Mondiale Contre le Cancer).

At Action for Development, she contributes by supplying the Community Health Center in Kabul with Swiss pharmaceutical products.

Sonia Goncalves, Communications and Social Media Intern

SoniaGONCALVES Sonia has a Spanish-Portuguese background and was born in Paris, where she studied Social Sciences. She obtained a Masters degree in International Relations with a specialization in Diplomacy from the Sorbonne University. She went on to specialize in marketing and communications, graduating from the Paris Business School with a Masters in marketing and communication from ESCP-Paris. After some positive work experience in the cultural sector in France, Sonia followed her Swiss husband to Geneva. She now wishes to use her academic and business skills within the communications sector for NGOs. She is in charge of AfD’s Communications and Social Media strategy at since March 2016.

Corinne Brodeur, Project Development and Communications Intern

Corinne holds a degree in International Studies and Political Science from the University of Montreal, as well as a Graduate Diploma from Concordia University. Her passion for intercultural relations and development have led her to take part in projects in Burkina Faso and in Peru, as well as in her native Canada. Her work in journalism was published and broadcast in Canadian media, including the CBC. Upon arrival in Switzerland, Corinne redirected herself towards work in the non-profit sector, which allows her to combine both her fields of studies and her passions. Corinne contributes to AfD’s work since April 2016 by participating in the communications strategy, project development and fundraising. She speaks French, English, Spanish and German
