Action for Development would like to introduce its new Country Director in Afghanistan, Mr. Ismail Qarizada, who will manage the country office in Kabul, foster external partnerships, and oversee projects implementation.
Mr. Qarizada brings extensive experience in Project Management, having served many development organisations including the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), various United Nations organisations including UNOPS and the World Food Program (WFP), Afghanaid, as well as the government of Afghanistan.
“It is a real pleasure and privilege to be part of a highly committed, diligent and dynamic team at Action for Development”, Mr. Qarizada said. “I take genuine pride to be able to assist the neediest people in Afghanistan and contribute to relief, rehabilitation and sustainable development in the country”.
He further noted that he would take into account the current prevailing socio-economic and political context in AfD’s country strategy. Most importantly, he vowed to integrate gender and conflict sensitive aspects into program management. Mr. Qarizada sees full potential in AfD’s development strategy and expressed his believe that it can have a reasonable impact on Afghanistan. “The projects implemented by AfD shall serve as a role-model to be replicated by other NGOs – showcasing best practices in sustainability”.
AfD expresses its warmest welcome to him and looks forward to driving the organisation’s vision forward with his leadership in its Afghanistan office.
